Reply:I would think the object would be to not only give the name/term of the "trick" but to also explain what it is. Reply:Master the basics because some tricks are just bad habits or someone just being lazy. Someone who is always looking to truely improve their technique will be able to out perform someone with a bag of tricks.

Reply:There is a website called "welding tips and tricks" isn't there"?I could tell ya...Then I would have to kill ya.You can relate tips to anyone but they still have to carry them out themselves...Most things if people and material are not at risk are best learned by just trying it...Believe it or not all these "new" tips and tricks are very old school...Problem is that all these "Engineers" think of new ways to invent the wheel and that is not going to get you anywhere..Common scents is nowhere to be found lately......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:There are no "magical" tips or tricks, just like there is no "magical" fishing lure! That said, I think the best thing you can do is to find a GREAT weldor, and just watch. Then try to duplicate what he's doing. Trust me, I know that is much easier said than done. At the present moment, I can hang with all the weldors I talk to. THATS SCARY!!! Finding one is the hardest part. But this, to me, is the easiest way to learn. When I wanted to learn to run heavy equipment, I would ask the operator at lunch time if I could load my own truck. I tried it. But then I started REALLY paying attention to exactly what he was doing. I would even watch what his hands were doing and pay attention to what the machine would do. This has helped me tremendously. I look at it as, I can do anything another man can do! Or at least try to. Now obviously I'm not gonna weld like Zap or ZT Fab over night, maybe never. And since I'm petrified of heights, I won't be welding bridges like Xtremefab. Hopefully you get the picture. I will at least try my best.Last edited by Stick-man; 07-09-2011 at 06:58 PM."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:One of the best tips I can give is...when you ask yourself 'I wonder what would happen if I did it this way?'....get some scrap and try it to see how it turns out...as long as it's not dangerous or unsafe (Don't ask yourself 'I wonder what would happen if I welded on that oxygen cylinder?')

Reply:Keep the rookies away from the grinders. Keep the rookies away from the torches. And last but not least, if your Mexican tells you after lunch tengo mal pedo, do not under any circumstances work downwind of him. You will regret itGo Cards!!!!!
