I have been having problems learning to tig weld, as I have no one around here to really help hands on. So I have been following some of the threads here and it finally dawned on me what was wrong after reading about flow guages and regulators.I had bought a used Lincoln Precision 185 in as new condition and had problems burning up tungstens and blowing holes in the metal seemed like there wasn't any control over the gas. I am using Argon and I weld a lot of 22 to16 guage steel for art style projects. I had been using the regulator that came with the welder. after reading about the difference of regulators vs flow guage  I bought a Smith flow guage and now the welds look like welds.  Apparently the regulator was not regulating. So thanks to all for the information it has really helped me get things sorted out.
Reply:its a real nice feeling to solve the problem and now it works.....congrats.
