oxy regulator

HelloI got a used victor portable torch set, after filling tanks discovered oxy regulator is leaking out of hole when i open main supply, should i get firepower regulator repaired or replace, any thoughts on the light duty harbour freight oxy regulator ?Thanks Mike

Reply:I am not familiar with the regulator you have but could make a few comments.Never had gas coming out of a hole usually the problem is the output pressure creaps up or if you turn the cylinder off the needles go down while the torch knobs are off.  The guages that screw in can spring leaks as well.I took a nice big dual stage regulator to the local welding shop and paid over $90 (approx 7 years ago) to have it rebuilt.  After a while it had the needles going to zero issue and I went back to the nearest branch of the entity which bought the other entity and the same guy was there and told me I was on my own but they would sell me new guages if that would help.  So if you go the reubuild route it sure isn't likel getting a new one.Maybe the guy before you had one of the issues I mentioned and didn't put it together correctly it isn't like they are too hard to take apart.  Usually the seat ceases to seat properly.Fran

Reply:really imo dont use it to weld a hitch that will pull anything ...........let a professional do it for public safetys sake and i use radnor they are made by victor as wellI forgot how to change this.
