I got this heavy 3 wheel band saw a couple months ago off of c-list for a $100, someone else built it years ago. Some one else changed some things on it,but didn't really know what they were doing.... they added a jackshaft and some other hacked up mods. Anyway, it is built with all vintage parts, two heavy cast iron wheels, one light aluminum wheel, an old Dayton gear drive reduction motor.... The plan is to remount the motor, raise the upper part of the "C" for more cutting capacity, clean it up and paint it... Reply:Is this going to be for wood or metal? The deep throat on that saw looks to be quite useful however compared to most 12-14" saws. If you raise the arm are you going to a longer blade as well to maintain the deep throat?.No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan

Reply:So I finished rebuilding my band saw... I raised the upper arm about 4'', remounted the motor, made some blade guards, installed a smaller third idler wheel which allowed me to use the same length blade, and added some dolly wheels so I can move it around easier The saw works excellent, it cuts very nice... cuts through 3/8 or 1/2'' like its nothing. Now all it needs is some paint...so far all I have into this project is $100 for the saw, $30 for two swivel dolly wheels, and $40 for a 1014 steel blade.
