SA-250 continental diesel

Just bought this machine and when you turn on the ignition switch the fuel pump/ injector pump? Makes a constant clicking noise? Anybody know if this should be a concern or an issue with these welders before I swap machines for my truck?

Reply:definately use a diesel oil in a diesel, they have extra additives that are made to deal with the extra soot in the oil, regular car oil will not hold up well and may cause damage down the road. Don't worry about getting anything fancy, Rotella or Delo have excellent reputations. Surprisingly the walmart brand Supertech has proven itself pretty capable.
Reply:I use 15W40 diesel oil in all my diesel engines, including the Deutz's in my welder and air compressor. It's not ideal for winter, but I usually warm the engine compartment before starting them, unless I'm pressed for time. Reply:When purchasing oil for your diesel engine you should look at the API category designation printed on the oil container.  The currently produced API category designation of oil "formulated for diesel engines" is CJ-4.The API category designation for diesel engine lube oil will always begin with the letter C. The second letter (and any suffix numeral) identifies the API "status" based on when it was put into effect and the production years range of the engines it was aimed at when it was first put into effect.Oil produced for gasoline engines has an API category beginning with the letter S.  Category S oils can be used in gaseous fueled engines (propane, natural gas) also.
