After looking through several posts and designs on here this is what I came up with.I already had the base made, it was part of a jig I made awhile back to press bushings out of A arms. The knife ( i guess you would call it) is 3/4" plate with 1"x1" square stock welded at 45 degrees. I probably should have tried to harden that a bit b/c it left notches in it when I bent some 3/4 round stock. The bottom (die? maybe) is 3 pieces of 2"x2" 1/4" angle, again not harden. After not being able to find any springs heavy enough or long enough, I ended up just pining the top to the press with a set screw and let the ram pull it back up. So far it seems to work good. I bent a piece of 3/8 x 2" flat bar with ease. Should save me a ton of time and hassle for those oddball brackets I have to make once in awhile. All welded with 5/32 7018 on a miller syncrowave 250...and no I will not post pics of those welds. If you cant fix it with a hammer, it must be an electrical problem."Boy, everyone starts with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. Reply:Nice job, you will find a million uses for it! One bit of advice....DO NOT bend round bar in it as it will leave dings in even a hardened punch (you call it a knife) If you MUST  bend round make an adapter for it or bend a piece of 1/8 aluminum to fit over the punch. Probably one of the most useful pieces you can have in the shop. PS I just noticed the "table" additon with the square edge, very good idea and time saver. Reply:Thanks for the compliments guys Sam, I find it hard to believe that you do not have the scrap metal on hand to knock one of these out in record time If you cant fix it with a hammer, it must be an electrical problem."Boy, everyone starts with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience.
