Clearanced valve cover (al)

A buddy of mine switched superchargers on his 5.0 sn95. The output pipe/flange from the centrifugal didn't clear his aftermarket al. valve covers.. I'm very, very bad at polishing / blending. Fortunately for me, the customer has a 'side job' of polishing aluminum parts for people. We worked out a deal where I get it close, and he'll do the final polishing. And in return, I charge less. Original al. was ~18 gauge, but I didn't have any al. in stock that thin, all I had was some 11g from a previous job. I left the edges sharp or with a slight radius so he'd know where the 'meat' was. It was backgouged and welded from the inside almost all the way around with exception of the section behind the vertical tube. I tied the patch into the al. piping that runs from the flange to the top surface for the mounting bolts, and reattached the baffle much sturdier. I don't have pictures of the 3m scotch bright blending, only the rough flapped / carbided cover.. don't remember why I didn't take more pictures... 1/16th ceriated~135A130hz60%3/32 4043Miller: 200dx, Bobcat 225, Passport, Powermax 45, Milwaukee: Dry Saw, MagDrill, grinders

Reply:Like you said, you're bad at blending.   Shoulda left some beads visible for the pics because in its current "halfway done" state, it's pretty ugly.Should be real nice once it's all blended out though.Nothin better than making things that didn't used to fit together, fit together.
Reply:You have to do the same thing when installing a 460 into a '69 Mach 1..The master cylinder is in the way.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
