Friend bought a small Eastwood 135 Mig. Tweco handleI went over there to pull it from the box and fire it up.Went to show him the very basics about running a bead.. Pull the trigger and in a second the wire stopped feeding although the feeder was pushing. Grabbed the wire and pulled it through bit only to see that about 6" down the wire it was blue and kinky. A few more attempts verified that the wire was getting hot enough and melting in the Gun handle. Almost right at the Trigger. In fact the trigger area was hot.Obviously a manufacturing error but has anyone ever had an insulation breakdown like this?Last edited by tony h; 10-10-2011 at 11:16 AM.
Reply:What size tips and wire are you running? If the tip is too large, the electricity is getting transferred to the wire through the liner rather than the tip and is heating up inside the handle.
Reply:We used what was in the the box. 0.020 wire and the brand new 0.02 tip.I hand tighten the tip onto the Gun, does it need to have a connection to the Liner?I always just hand tighten the Tip on my gun ( Miller) without an issue
Reply:take the gun apart and check it out we run tweco guns and have the same problem but its usually a dirty liner or a really old lner thats doing it...im sure thats not the case with you since its a brand new machine
