Stopped in my local Airgas dealer and asked about tank rental and refill cost. Rental is $35/year payable at end of year and refill of 40cuft tank is $20. I'd likely go with an 80cuft tank.Since I'm a new welder do these rates sound reasonable or should I look for a better deal?
Reply:I would find out about buying a tank. Here's the place I just went to for a exchange on my owner tank , 150 CF of argon. $45.00 for a exchange . Here's their craigs list posting for reference. Fair prices. http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/tld/4246934030.htmlPosting your location will help. Could save you phone calls and leg work. Do you plan on buying a machine in the future ? Get prices on equipment , accessories and tank as a package deal. May make a big difference on tank purchase. There are many postings on tanks if you want to search. http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...01#post3430701
Reply:If you post where you are located, maybe someone here can help you. I would look for a mom & pop store, they usually don't charge rental rates, just a refundable deposit."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:I'm located in Morgantown WV. Not a whole lot of welding supply or Craig's list presence from what I can tell. The airgas dealer here sells Miller welders but they don't stock much. Its all special order. I can't even think of another place in town that sells argon. Searching Craig's list around here is a bust. There is occasionally some stuff listed in Pittsburgh PA area that isn't too far. |
