Helping that bro-inlaw build some sliders Attached Images
Reply:The new notcher is woking just fine. I'll hide the creases left from the cheap *** bender. My MM vintage is at a friends house, so I found myself with a tig torch, on my back. Toyoto has nuts in the frame everywhere, beautiful thing.
Reply:Nice!I actually make rock sliders for a couple of other Toyoata models here in Oz, its only a hobby at the moment; but I am developing a set for the FJ and a couple of other models hoping it will be a full time gig. looking forward to seeing how you mount them, shouldn't be too hard with all the chassis nuts.I gotta get a tube notcher, much easier than the angle grinder!Cheers Andrew
Reply:Looks good. Any pics on how it attaches to the truck?Sure, I can fix it... I got a welder!!!
Reply:You really should cap the ends so it don't fill up with water....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:DOM is work hardened and stronger, smother, no seam. The ERW we bought was pretty dang smooth, can't see a seam when painted.http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/Links/

Reply:Looks great. Are they bolt on or weld on? I welded mine, (on my ram) and they are bullet proof. They offer unlimited jacking points. Still need to add in some expanded metal as they are a bit slick when wet. But they work great. Painted them with POR15 and they still look good as new. Mine have a 2X4 .250 wall main tube just under the body, and then a 1.75 .120 round to make the step and connect it to the frame. I really need to build some gussets to add a bit of strength to the mount on the frame though. I don't want them to tear off sliding across a rock, or flexing too much at the frame. But they are bullet proof as is just not too overbuilt at the mount like I would like.Offering CNC Plasma cutting and welding projects.Follow me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/nobigdeal.fabSupport those that support WW.
Reply:Here is how we attached them... If anything fails my best guess is it will be the lower M8 bolts or the tube plate junction.  I've seen other commercially produced rails that are gusseted with 1.75" tube vs our 2" (non gusseted) tube.  We were feeling the need to get the rails done and left them off.  I do more over-landing than pure wheeling and generally avoid real hard core runs and hopefully won't need gussets...I'm counting on Andy's TIG skills and that extra 1/4" dia. ...time will tell  Attached Images
Reply:Looks great. Nice job on them we took the easy way out and welded the tube to the frame on my truck. As we did nit have the materials or the ambition to build the plates. If I were to do them again, they would be removable. Especially now that I have a CNC machine to make the plates for me Offering CNC Plasma cutting and welding projects.Follow me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/nobigdeal.fabSupport those that support WW.

Reply:Yeah if I do it again I design one and just turn on my CNC plasma and cut a bunch out.Offering CNC Plasma cutting and welding projects.Follow me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/nobigdeal.fabSupport those that support WW.
Reply:They look good! The ones I am developing here will be mounted using the same bolts, just a pity they aren't a bit bigger than M8. I will have to take some pics and post up some of my slider projects.Looks like some nice underbody armour you have there as well.Cheers Andrew
