Decided to start a thread for shipyard workers. Did my electrical apprenticeship at Mare Island Shipyard. My dad worked in the 70's as a machinist, I started in 83 and was riffed in 1991 in a round of base closures that included most of the military installations in the San Francisco Bay Area.This is a shot of the Enterprise in Hunter's Point dry dock #4. I helped to install shore power when the ship docked. I worked in shop 99, the temporary services shop as an electrician.ShopStorageCabinets.com

Reply:This is the USS Hammerhead in dry dock #1 at Mare Island. Mare Island was the first Navy shipyard on the west coast, it opened in 1854. Dry dock #1 was built in 1872 and is made of granite blocks.ShopStorageCabinets.com
