Got a Precision Tig 225

Hey yall!!So, the other night, I brought this welder home. It was kind of a shot in the dark, as there was no way for me to test it out at the guy's house (had a missing plug, and he didn't have 220 there), but he said it worked, and I trusted him, counted out $980, loaded it up, and brought it home.Wow, Im sure glad I took his word for it, this thing is SWEET!! I picked up a plug and got it wired up, flipped the switch, and the lights came on. Somebody's home!! YeeHaw!! The first night, I didnt have any Argon, so I hooked it up to my mig's C25 tank just so I could see if it would get an arc, and lastnight, I made my first real welds with it. Im in love with this thing, HF start is GREAT, but the biggest thing is the foot control, Im really glad to have that now.So, Ive got to figure out Pulse. I dont really know what to use it for, I understand thin sheet metal? How many PPM's do you run, how do you know when its right? This is gonna be fun to learn. Reply:Good luck with it..Now comes all the other "Stuff" you will need..Positioner..Gas Mixer..Little wheels for shafts..ETC.ETC..The list will never end!...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Seeing how you do quite a few farm equipment repairs, you might want to look into a 25' lead and a hand amptrol. I've been inside my combine grain tank to do some patching and there just doesn't seem to be a place to work a pedal. I've also been laying down repairing a grain header and could not work a pedal. Reply:Manning,You need to put the pedal between your knees in those situations. It's a little tricky, but it can be mastered in a fairly short time. Reply:I got one this past week also. Mine is new so I paid more than twice what you paid. I did get the factory cart, a tig accessory pack, gauges, a book on tig welding and a dust cover (dust cover is really nice). Plus I got it delivered (almost to my door) from several states away in 3 days.Surprised you were able to lift it out of the truck. The ship weight is 278 lbs and it feels like it. I used the factory eye hook and my neighbors tractor to lower it out of my truck. Once it was on the ground it rolls very easy. Reply:Lanse, that "Twist-mate" plug is just a 50mm Dinse connector. Lenco and Tweco make 'em, you should be able to get one for $10 or so at your LWS. Or, try www.weldingsupply.com you can get the connector and a decent stinger for under $30, and they have good prices on cable if you order at least 25' IIRC.#2 cable should be adequate for that machine, not too much $$$.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:Nice score.  SMAW should run nice on it too.   I got a couple Miller Radiator 1's.  That I think I can get 1 good running complete unit out of the pair with a mdl 20 torch.   Let me know if ya interested... Reply:Hey Lanse very nice machine. I see how you unloaded the machine great idea for your next project build your self a nice little gantry crane that moves on wheels so that you can lift plate and welding machines of curse , Also when  will you be getting a 9'' grinder that will make grinding down metal so much faster.  And it must be nice to have a 220 line in the shop. that's my next  project i believe .Enjoy the machineMillermatic 211 with mvp plugs miller titanium series welding helmetstihl chain saws 8 ft welding table
