Am I patient or just plain stupid - I've been putting up with those dumba$$ legs for over a decade and finally had enough. 2X2X14ga tubing and a shelf - I'm set. Attached Images
Reply:Very nice - good idea, should be lot more stable now.
Reply:I think I can picture exactly the legs you're talking about;  basically sheet-metal cut in a slight triangle (wider at top) and bent 90 degrees.   I have a chinese-made sander comprised of the same crappy legs!Good work.Lincoln AC225 & MigPak 140, Lincoln Magnum SpoolGun, Miller Spectrum 375-X Plasma, Syncrowave 200 TIG, Millermatic 252 MIG, Miller Digital Elite, General 7x12" horiz/vert bandsaw, 3' box/pan brake, 20 ton press, milling machine, 12x28 lathe, etc.
Reply:Looks like my Clarke 4x6 band saw.  Nice legs.  How stable is it side to side?MarkI haven't always been a nurse........Craftsman 12"x36" LatheEnco G-30B MillHobart Handler 175Lincoln WeldandPower 225 AC/DC G-7 CV/CCAdd a Foot Pedal to a Harbor Freight Chicago Electric 165A DC TIG PapaLion's Gate Build

Reply:Looks good, I did something similar. I did not think the factory legs good hold the saw safely. Look at the attached pictures. In the left corner of the saw is a long piece of square tubing. I use it as a stop. Pictures 2 -3 show it in action.Helps speed up cutting when you have to cut a bunch of pieces the same length Attached ImagesDave ReberWadsworth Ohio

Reply:I like it. I have a 8.5"X13" Ramco, but it has similiar legs. I built a kinda temporary angle iron perimeter frame w/wheels to move it around but I don't like the footprint it takes up and I like the stop that Reebs incorporated into his design. Reply:If you build one go with larger caster than I did (see post 6). I have since replaced them.sm95m has the right idea with respect to wheels casters it makes moving it around much easier.Dave ReberWadsworth Ohio

Reply:great work and the saw lasted for a decade even better
Reply:How are you attaching the saw to the table itself? Thanks
Reply:Nice... m3 in the background?
Reply:Do your (Reebs)  blades ever get pinched while using that stop?  If not, then perhaps the below info will help somebody else.I extended my table and fence to the other sides so the stock can't cant when it releases and bind the blade.  I do still us a stop similar to Reebs'.  I have a cantilever stop on my ironworker.  As the part falls the stop seesaws and then returns to proper position.  It would work for a band saw,  too.
Reply:No the blades never get pinched or bind when using the stop. I love the saw. At one point i was breaking blades but I had a bad bearing and since it works perfect. Not a bad tool for $159 or 179.Dave ReberWadsworth Ohio
Reply:Those stands are 100% improvement from the disaster floppy factory supplied stuff.Vinnie
Reply:I bought a 4X6 saw many many years ago from Montgomery Wards!  It has performed well over the years with very little maintenance.I built a stand some years ago and it's been good.  I've always used the 1/2" round rod stop that came with the saw (sometimes with longer rods).  I'm liking the square tube idea a lot.  I may have a slight upgrade to my stand.

Reply:I agree these saws have crappy factory tables. Here is the ghetto upgrade I did to mine. I want to redo it into a nice one like the others above ^ good for a laughIts a Datsun 1200 coupe.

Reply:Sturdy-looking table legs! More work for you now!Reebs, Love the stand with the extra options you added to it. Very nice!!
Reply:Thanks hammer.I love that bandsaw. The only problem it has given me was a roller bearing (for the blade) got misaligned and i started breaking blades.Dave ReberWadsworth Ohio
