Reply:I think you'll find conceal carry on the job to be uncomfortable.  It's also hard to keep it concealed and easily accessible.  Both problems can be overcome but may require a number of gun and holster combinations.  It's no different than clothing in that both weather and job requirements dictate dress and will also effect choice of  gun and holster.

Reply:I can't even begin to type all my comments, but... you are flirting with legal and employment disaster if caught in violation.  Never mind the erosion of our (my) gun rights by flouting the fact in a public forum that you would carry in violation of work place rules and possibly legal restrictions.  That's just ignorant.  You even use your full name (presumably).  Don't think employers look at your online presence as part of background checks?Where ever you are, were you required to take a class before being licensed to carry concealed, and if so, did you ignore what you were instructed?Last edited by RodJ; 02-06-2014 at 09:15 PM.

Reply:I love working at a shop where ccw is expected. At first the office ladies were uncomfortable with open carry in the office. Then the pain management shop moved in around the corner and the junkies started coming in asking for directions.   Now they just have me come up and give directions. Lot fewer people stopping in. Reply:How ergonomic is it to have a gun strapped to you? I know plenty of guys who keep them in their truck, and I think maybe one operator that kept it on his person. I do a lot of laying on my side and crouching, constant moving. I would leave it in the truck or teach the helper how to shoot Don't carry a gun into an atom plant, you will be shot on site.  Or so the signs sayLocal 83

Both at home & on the road.I NEVER viewed carrying a gun as being paranoid. After doing a lot of self defense training & living where I did (Las Vegas Metro area) I knew how bad things could be in this wicked system we live in. My aim was solely to protect myself.I will never begrudge anyone who seeks to avoid becoming a victim of violent crime. I guess my beef lies with some who view a concealed weapons permit as a carte blanche ticket to use deadly force in any situation where they feel threatened. Many who have this view have little to no self defense training & often have a lacking ability of awareness, which in my opinion is one of the TOP self defense tools anyone possesses. Not saying in any way this is the case with the OP. Only stating that its a fine line to walk when you carry a gun. In most cases, if you use it without a damn good reason, you'll be spending time in prison for it. Not also to mention the civil litigation that is almost surely to follow. I personally feel its just not worth it to me at this point in time, hence the reason I choose not to carry a gun anymore.Justin, I think you have been carrying long enough that you know what works for you & what doesn't. Discretion is the key in your case with regards to carrying on the job. A small, lightweight weapon will fit the bill best, coupled with good awareness & ability to keep the fact you are carrying as much to yourself as possible.I carried illegally for some time before getting a legitimate permit. I got mine when the Sheriffs office personally issued them & the Sheriff of Clark County personally signed your carry permit. I still remember Jerry Keller's signature in fine black sharpie on mine Lot different deal now. It's a LOT easier to get a permit than it was twenty years ago, at least in Nevada. Keeping silent about it before getting a permit meant not going to jail & losing my gun. The principle carries over just as much when it's legal.IMHO of course
Reply:Originally Posted by justin.walsh.969Many people that get their permit think it's a license to kill. In my state you get charged with murder if you kill in self defense. Then it is up to the jury to decide your verdict. Whether you were fending for your life or not. I have always legally carried. My county required a 12 hour course. Fingerprints and a federal background check. You give up some rights to gain some I guess. I have switched to my smaller gun thanks to all of you guys advice. It's just a lot more ergonomically fit for my body. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
