Every time a buy something at Airgas the receipt they give me has no prices. Which makes it a worthless piece of paper. Do other airgas locations do this or is it just mine?Ian TannerKawasaki KX450 and many other fine tools

Reply:If you pay for it at the time, it will have prices. If you charge it, they price it afterwards, sometimes pretty high!I am a hobbiest, so I pay as I go most of the time. But I have an account because that is how they decide what to charge you.Burt _____________________Miller Syncrowave 250Millermatic 211Miller 375 Plasma Cutter Hobart Handler 12010FtDrillBit.com
Reply:Everything I have purchased from Airgas has a price on the receipt. Of course I have paid in cash. I purchased a Lincoln MIG welder and a helmet at different times. I have read good and bad reports about Airgas on this forum, but I am well satisfied as to how I have been treated.Craftsman Stick WelderLincoln 180c MIG welderHarris O/A gas welder
Reply:When I charge on account they don't give me a price, I asked about it the one time and he said it was because I had a commercial account, and they didn't want the walk in customers to know the price.  I am done with AirGas, I like the guys that work there but I went in there to buy a box (10) chop saw blades, when I finally got the bill it was nearly $9/blade and then a $9 hazmat fee on top of it, I could've went to Menard's a block away and got them for $6 a blade.  A lot of the times I go in there they don't have what I need.  When I lived in Fargo I had problems with AirGas there too, but mainly just the people working there.  Moral of the story, if the people working there don't suck, the company still does.
Reply:My Airgas has prices on the receipt, and I have a charge account with them. Unfortunately, both my Praxair's do not have the prices on them, and I don't like that."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:if you can find another place to buy your stuff, do it.  Airgas is a rip off.  I lease tanks, the lease is supposed to be for a year and every 11 months I get a bill.  Evidently there, a years lease is only a 11 month lease at air gas.  The way I see it I've been screwed out of three months at this point.  Does no good to talk to them about it.  They just do what they want.  This is the last year I'll be leasing stuff from them.  Bought my own bottles and found a place that will fill them AND return the same bottles in a day.  Prices at Airgas also seem to be determined on a daily basis (and vary as much as 100%) and it depends on whos behind the counter and what location I go to.  Really, gets me po'd.  In the end they'll do themselves in because of the way they treat customers.  Maybe they treat the BIG customers better but I'd doubt it based on how they treat me, I'm just a small fry, and they wouldn't miss my business if I disappeared.
Reply:air gas does that when you have an account only.    so they can send a bill to the office every month that makes you think up new and creative swear wordsVantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.

Reply:Why is it that AirGas here in Cali doesn't list the prices of their $h!t on the shelves??? I always have to ask a clerk there, "hey how much are these _____________ (gloves, torch tips, electrodes, skull caps, etc,...). None of the AirGas locations I've been to ever list their prices.  I hate that.  One dumb @$$ manager tried to tell me that (and I quote "the state of California said we can't list our prices on our shelves  any longer."   Seriously, WTF??????  LIAR!!!   I asked him, "well, why does Sims welding supply continue to list prices on their products?  Why does Home Depot, Lowes, Industrial Metal Supply, Patton Steel, Harbor Freight, Ace Hardware etc.... All list their prices??????   He gave me a blank stare.   Dumb @$$.I tell you SoCalers, if you want a great welding supply place, use Sims.  They have one in Fontana, Long Beach, Wilmington, culver city, Gardena, Anaheim and Sylmar.  They rock!  Also, they don't advertise this tip, but they do in fact barter the price of their machines for sale.  Never pay list or "sticker price."  Sims always works for me.Last edited by SuperArc; 02-13-2014 at 01:56 AM.Lincoln Power Mig 216Lincoln AC/DC-225/125Miller  625 X-Treme PlasmaMiller 211 Forney 95FI-A 301HF 91110Victor Journeyman O/PMilwaukee DaytonMakita  Baileigh NRA Life Member
Reply:I worked 13 yrs in retail in Michigan. By state law we had to price 80%(I believe) of the items on the shelf. 23,000 square feet of floor space and having to price all that stuff was a HUGE job. Thanks to the big box stores Michigan changed their law.Just ask the retailer to change your account to show full pricing. They set up accounts like that to keep people that have no need to see pricing from seeing it when they pick items up for their employer......it's not about hiding what your paying from you.
Reply:Originally Posted by AntiblingYou say you have a charge account but are you charging?  My receipt has prices if I pay them at the time of the sale.  Most of the time I've been in there I need to get something and get out so I charge it, sign my receipt, and get out.  Few days later I get a bill with sticker shock.

Reply:And my Airgas has prices on the shelf. But, they are usually higher than the price I end up paying. I am small time, so I really don't know if it's just because I have a charge account with them or what."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!!
