Reply:Thats pretty good. How do you like the fluxcore?
Reply:I like it a lot!
Reply:I tried it a little bit and didnt like it much, harder to see my bead. So I bought me a bottle and running my lincoln 140 like that. It is also so much cheaper then the fluxcore. My 2pound fluxcore went by fast!
Reply:Just so there's no confusion this is a dual shield wire. Completely different animal than gasless "flux core" wires that people use in their little mig welders before they realize its poo and buy a gas bottle.Last edited by MikeGyver; 08-03-2012 at 12:19 AM.Welding/Fab Pics: www.UtahWeld.com
Reply:Poo???  Methinks that's a bit harsh Innershield is ok if you know how to run it.  Run a cup brush over this and you have a nice looking weld.  REALLY, they do clean up pretty good   "Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:i agree. i tried the double shielded welding. outside its a nightmare if the wind blows. especially if the wind blows, on x-rayed welds.  you make it look easy.
Reply:Dual shield is not intended to be an outdoor use wire. It welds like a charm where it's intended.Welding/Fab Pics: www.UtahWeld.com

Reply:Originally Posted by JoshfromsaltlakeI disagree. At my last job, a few years ago, I welded MIG and/or dual shield outdoors once a week on average. This was due to a lot of our projects being too heavy to fork them inside the shop during final assembly. I kept a pile of sheet metal drop pieces in the corner of the shop next to my tool box. What you do is tack pieces of sheet around the weld area to make a box or a "trench." This works great unless you have consistent winds of more than 20 mph which is rare where I live. There were only two times as I recall when I had to say "screw it" and switch to 7018 due to relentless wind. There was even one time I welded outdoors with dual shield in a blizzard. Granted in that situation I had to get a bunch of vice grip clamps, a tarp, and three pipe stands, and make myself a weld tent. Goddamn rush jobs.....Dual shield is more productive and makes welds with significantly better physical properties.
