we have a circular intermittent butt weld design. Each weld is 1 inch and totally four welds distributed evenly (90 degree apart) on the joint of two pipes the OD of which are 5.4 inch. Two pipes are welded by using stick welding (SMAW).Please provide your expertise on the questions:1. How to calculate the weld strength of such intermittent weld if a torsion T lb-ft is applied on the intermittent welds?2.
