Hi Everyone,                  This weeks project, built a BBQ/GRILL for my daughters farm,Built from a 47Kg Propane bottle,Plasma cutting the lid section caused it to spring a little but still perfectly acceptable, Attached ImagesLincoln SP-170 MigHypertherm powermax 45Lorch T220 AC/DC TigButters FM 215 synergic MigKemppi 180 adaptive mig RULES ARE FOR THE OBEDIENCE OF FOOLS AND THE  GUIDANCE OF WISE MEN.
Reply:Nice job Gordon, I like the safety hook, your welds look mighty, your wheels might prove to be problem-matic! Any way to remove spent ash/coal?Bruce The Welding ChefLincoln Weld-Pack 3200 NORWELD StickStanford Hill Farm
Reply:I like the spit and the engine turned pan. The hex shaped column is also different. The legs themselves don't do any thing for me design wise. The only down side I see is that there doesn't look to be an easy way to remove the spit with something on it, so you can carve away from the grill. The spit also might need a 2nd "foot" inside the grill to help support the food. You can probably make a simple slide on support that sits right on the grill and you just slide the spit into the appropriate hole in the support.Edit: moved from other duplicate thread so they can delete that one..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:To remove the ash, the stainless expanded grill just lifts straight out It's not attached but just rests on the support bars,The hex column is from an old street light pole,I only thought about the removal of the spit once I had finished it,but it easily detaches by undoing the hight adjustment screw and lifting it out complete with the .bracket.As for the safety hook to hold it in the open position,I thought it was necessary because the lid is heavier than expected and i did not want it dropping on anybodies fingers, I have also added a strong spring to the rear(not shown in the pic but the brackets for it are there)tocounteract some of the weight,Last edited by gordon stephenson; 08-10-2012 at 08:48 PM.Lincoln SP-170 MigHypertherm powermax 45Lorch T220 AC/DC TigButters FM 215 synergic MigKemppi 180 adaptive mig RULES ARE FOR THE OBEDIENCE OF FOOLS AND THE  GUIDANCE OF WISE MEN.

Reply:Hi Gordon, you are the king of recycle!  Nice work on the grill. Question, how do you regulate the air imput over the coals?  I built one and had to add dampers on the sides along both sides to regulate the fire box imput and made brackets to raise/lower the grill rack.  These additions made controlling the temperature easier.  Just my thoughts.  I recognize your stove/heater in the background and remember when you made it.  Just wondering how, after using it for a spell now how it's working out.  Best  Bob

Reply:Thank you for your kind words sir's,                                                   I have not fitted any dampers or air inlet regulators on purpose, I read a really good article on the internet somewhere with a wealth of knowledge about wood burners, and the bottom line was a wood stove output should only be controlled by the amount of fuel being used.restricting the air only leads to incomplete combustion of the fuel. The smaller log burning patio heater in the pic's Is not the same one as I have shown before,I have made quite a few now,Mainly to give to family members and all feedback is very favourable,Very cheap and quick to build, the only small down-side is I have to pay to have them grit blasted and the high temp paint is a bit pricey,Lincoln SP-170 MigHypertherm powermax 45Lorch T220 AC/DC TigButters FM 215 synergic MigKemppi 180 adaptive mig RULES ARE FOR THE OBEDIENCE OF FOOLS AND THE  GUIDANCE OF WISE MEN.
