I am going to make a lift for a motorcycle, either a lift table or just a center jack-lift.  Has anybody made one or something similar.  I like SlagKing's lift table and may end up with a design similar to that.  If anybody else has a design that works please post some pictures or info.  SlagKing, if you wouldn't mind posting some specs on your table that would be great, ie. location of pivots, length of lever arm, etc.  Thanks,Rigger
Reply:I've built two lifts using plans I bought from . The plans were easy to follow and reasonably priced.CormMM251, SP125+, Hypertherm 360, 180SD, old Sears 285 amp buzz box
Reply:have you thought about using a transmission jack welded onto a frame that you made? if you want extra support for making it sturdier you can always weld some pipes in the corners and have the top pipes go inside the bottom pipes and that would keep it all level. i dont know, just an idea. last time i made a table i actually went looking behind stores for metal and found all kinds of helpful racks and grills and such. maybe you could find some good stuff too.
Reply:I built motorcycle lift as a single side post lift. Similar to an air operated auto end lift. Hard to explain. If interested, I'll try to post some pics. It is hydraulic operated with a 3 ton long flat bottom jack and has a minimum lift of 3 1/2" to a maximum lift of about 43 inches. It is also on casters. As an afterthought I have even used it as an end lift on my Ford Courier pick up so it is plenty stout for motorcycles.Chip

Reply:I know this is an old post, but I'm interested in seeing the photos. Please post if you still have them. Thanks
Reply:Here are some pics of the lifts I built , they both work great..  The sicsor lift is built out of stainless , its a little heavy but works great..

Reply:Harbor Freight has a motorcycle lift table complete with front wheel vise for less than $300, it would cost you more in time ands materials to make your own...and the jacks like the one above are available for $65 (steel) and $115 (aluminum) at sears with the craftsman Club sales.  Does it even pay to make your own?
Reply:Take a look at the Easy-Rizer at www.bike-lift.com  I think one could use the same concept.  Looks to be a tall trailer jack or a lifting leg from a slide-in camper as the core of the unit.

Reply:Thanks!  I hadn't checked out the site in awhile.  This definitely looks better.  I think they've got a winner...and the concept is so simple.  Happy riding!
Reply:Hello Rigger,Here a a few bike lifts I have made they are probably different to what you are after but I thought I would post them anyway.I have also made other center lift types, I will try and find a few photo's of them.Simonhttp://members.optusnet.com.au/~abba/index.html Attached Images
Reply:Simon -I'm interested in your type of bike lifts, as I need to fabricate similar for a Flathead H-D racer project that I have coming up in the near future.  Thanks for any info.Jack"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb    voting on what to have for lunch.    Liberty is a well-armed lamb    contesting the vote."                     Benjamin Franklin, 1759
Reply:I have a factory lift here in my shop. It's well built but should be easy to duplicate. Rated at 1500lbs.  If you need detailed pics I can snap a few for ya. Reply:That's a good looking lift Paul, what's something like that cost? But it sure looks good.Jack feel free to ask me anything you would like to know I build heaps of them, They only cost me about $30 to make.I don't have plans as I make them as I go to suit each bike, But I can draw some if you need. All the bending was done in a hand tube bender I make, They can bend from 1/2" to 2" RHS to almost any angle you like. The stands I make sell in bike shops for $200 for the back and $250 for the front. Not bad for $30 worth of materials and about 2 hours work.Simonhttp://members.optusnet.com.au/~abba/index.html
Reply:Good morning Simon. It's a nice safe lift. Our bike weighs 1120 lbs so I wanted to put it on something safely. We also use this lift as a loading and off loading ramp so it's also really good for my back. It operates on air. This one has the optional side extensions and wheel vise on it as well but what's easy on the back is hard on the pocket book and it cost around $4000. CDN but seeing it's helped my bad back it's still cheaper than seeing a doctor!Miller 302 Trailblazer/Custom TrailerMillermatic 350P/Spool gunMillermatic 252Miller Spectrum 875Miller Dynasty200DxHypertherm Powermax 85Tracker CNC 4X8 Pro Table (Down Draft)Visit us @ www.specialtyrepairscustommods.com

Reply:Yep, that is the mac daddy of lifts. The HF one is okay, but complete crap compared to that. Not even in the same ballpark!!!!!!
Reply:Check Northern-Tool as well. I was looking at their catalog tonight and they have more than a half-dozen lifts to pick from, including 2 identical to 4Shorts for about $900 - 1300.00. Reply:Hello everyoneI know this thread is very old, but I've found this forum by searching about it, and I think I'm close to get what i need so much. I’m Elias Kfoury from Brazil, I’m a beginner welder, just learning and doing stuff for Harley Davidsons. I’m a new member of the Weldingweb fórum.I saw this motorcycle lift thread, and I’m having a lot of difficult in trying to make myself a motorcycle lift.I saw that plans site (AFAB) but they can’t ship internationally. Please, if you can, Tell me how I can get one of these plans (that Cycle plans) by downloading a pdf file, or if you have it and don’t be worried to scan it for me, I’ll be very glad - I've tried to buy, but they dont accept international orders...Here in Brazil a lift like it is very expensive and not well made. Or, if you have some tip to me for getting some plans to do it, please send me. sorry about my poor english writing.

Beats crawling around the floor.

Reply:Pipeliner--the two stage cylinder was used from an outfit called  Surplus Center out of Lincoln, NE, as well as most of the components for the pump, valves, connections etc.  If I was to do it again I would recommend buying the pump, tank and motor complete, unless you have lots of time.   I have no affiliation with these folks but they do have tons of odd ball stuff for your "government" jobs.  Their web site is:www.surpluscenter.com They have a great paper catalog, get yourself a copy.
Reply:I am looking for a air powered cylinder to help me with my lift table. Does anyone have any suggestions?
