Anyway I could go from this POL oxy RH female torch connection to a male POL RH to use a larger oxy tank; these benzomatic little POL bottlles cost a fortune and las at the most 15-20 minutes. I have been using a 20lbs propane tank cause you can easily find a hose that goes from a POL propane connection to a 20lbs tank but can't find the same option for oxygen, Does anyone know if it is possible and where would I find such a hose adapter in order to connect to a larger oxygen tank ?Thanks, danyboy
Reply:Greetings Danyboy,The pipes, the pipes they'll be a calling... If somehow you manage to plumb the low-pressure (maybe 200psi?) disposable cylinder's equipment to a high-pressure (@2000psi) cylinder. If after poking around at WeldingWeb for a bit you still want to cobbect the low-pressure equipment to a high-pressure cylinder, then what you should do is use a pressure regulator on a high-pressure cylinder and then connect to the regulator's low-pressure port.Good Luck
Reply:denrep, I used a benzomaticpropane turbo torch on a 20lbs propane tank to solder 2-3" pipes for years without a regulator and I'm sure there is a lot more pressure in a 20lbs propane tank conmpared to a small benzomatic propane or map tank and it worked. I was just asking if anyone knew if a left hand male POL fitting existed and if so, where could I buy one. This POL valve is a regulator.
Reply:If you're asking if you can adapt a torch that hooks up to a disposable cylinder to a 20 lb propane tank, then yes, you can. You can generally find an adapter in a good camping supply store, so you can run a coleman stove or lantern off of a gas grill tank.

Reply:That's exactely the answer I was hoping for. Now I know. Thanks
Reply:Easy enough to get an oxygen regulator, chop the Bernz hose, and splice some standard oxygen hose to the smaller Bernz hose with whatever combination of (oxygen clean) brass fittings will do the job.You need to step things down to torch pressure, not Bernz regulator pressure. Throw the Bernz regulator in the spares box. Problem solved. |
