My wife's Uncle is a High School Biology/Physiology teacher and he called me last week and said he had a project for me. He shows up with this Fossil that he believes is part of the femur of a Brontosaurus that he bought at an Estate sale. The Fossil is in two pieces and and he wants to display it in his classroom but he wants to be sure the top part wont fall off.I built this out of aluminum based on what he told me he wanted. The base plate is 18"x18" of .250" 6061-T6. The main rod is 28" of 1.25" solid round bar. The other parts are made up of some 1" solid round bar, .500" solid round and a piece of .500"x1.00" solid. The top support bracket is made from a section of 7" x .250" wall round tube (to follow the contour of the bone) and the bottom bracket is made from some 2"x2"x.250" aluminum angle. He will be adding rubber to the mounting pads and figuring out some sort of clamp to go around the top. http://all-a-cart.comWelding Cart Kits and accessories
Reply:If the base is 18"x18" then that joint must be about 10" or so? That bugger would have been dino stew for quite awhile."The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt

Reply:Very professional looking design and execution.  That looks incomparably better than any of the stands seen holding up items in all the museums I've been too.Miller Dynasty 200 DXBuildPro TMA52238 (38" x 22")Miller MP-10 & Jackson Nexgen EQC20 Ton Press & Swag HD Press Brake
