I have a Radnor 18   water cooled torch ..   and one of the water lines seemed to be deteriorated at the torch end..the line looks to be wired onto the barb with a double wrap of thin wire... then the brass collar twists down to hold it tight?I cut the line and slid it onto the barb.... but it seems very difficult to get the brass fitting to screw down onto the line...Is a special tool needed?  or should I just replace the line/torch?I am new to tig...   and honestly the 18 is a bit combersome...    I'd like something smaller maybe...  20 - 25?is the old 18 worth anything? and any suggestions for a new torch w/lines? I'd like to keep it under 150 bucks since welding is just a hobby...thanks.Miller 211Hypertherm PM 451961 Lincoln Idealarc 250HTP 221  True Wisdom only comes from Pain.
Reply:Some torches use the brass knurled collar to hold the hose onto the barb. Some that dont' have that use safety wire. Either way, it's not under a lot of pressure so you will be safe either way.The hoses can be a bitch to put back on, slide the hose onto a screwdriver, punch or something to stretch it out just a little bit.Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer

Reply:This is above your $150.00 limit but I really enjoy mine.  CK Flex Loc 230 or 250 with the Super flex cables.  Mine is the 25’ one.  You’ll need the correct connector to the welder and a leather sheath to protect the lines.  When I purchased mine the best price I found was from: http://www.weldfabulous.com/p-76343-...superflex.aspxEverlast PowerPro 256, Everlast W300 Cooler, Everlast Cart 250Millermatic 211, Spoolgun 100, Miller HD CartJackson W60 Truesight Digital Auto Darkening, Victor 315 Torch sitting on a Harper 830-86 cart

They get so rigid that it is hard to work with the torch. The link that Zapster posted really is the best deal anywhere on a quality USA made tig torch and it even comes with a cover and power block. Unbeatable deal! 20 series torches are light and nimble, and have the amperage capacity for everything short of really heavy industrial use.
Reply:I was real close to purchasing that same torch a few months ago. In the end I ended up spending more money just to buy a leather cover, consumables, and a new superflex power cable for my old Airco tig torch.IAMAW Local 330Airco 300 AC/DC HeliwelderAirco Dip-Pak 200 with Profax spool gunPowr-Kraft AC225Everlast PowerArc 200stBuffalo Forge No.21 drill pressSpeedglas 9100xxAirco, Oxweld, Purox, Victor torchesLincoln Ranger 8
Reply:The one I posted is the same as the one Zap posted (unless I missed something, has rubber hoses anyway), just a different source and less total cost.
