Hi guysI thought you might be amused by my steel "storage systems." Perhaps you guys could also post pictures of metal you have saved to use when you need it. Some people have great collections I'm sure.I went to get more angle since I used most of my supply. Currently I live in a totally residential area but I used to live in the bush. Several jobs I had let me trade time or favours (like coming in on Saturday to flip beams for the painter) for scrape steel. Here is a fridge full of "bridge steel" from the flame cutting table. They welders told me it was really good steel since it had extra copper in it. I don't know but more than a decade ago I cleared the table and filled the back of a 1 ton dually heaped up with scrap. Here is a close up. Lots welding practice I there plus a lot of cleaning with a zMiller Syncrowave 180SDLincoln WeldPak 100 with gasHandheld Milwaukee BandsawO/A Cutting Torch

Reply:Most of mine is piled up against a tree. actually a lot of trees. I figure it never goes away, just changes its thickness. I got most of mine when it was 10 cents a pound . Now I can sell it for ten cents a pound. Its like money in the bank. Mac
Reply:Just to be clear some of that steel did follow me home again. The WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) of this load is rock bottom :-). Oh well. The bench is going to be my power tool holder since I just have piles of tools with all the wires snarled up into a power bar. After a day I have to unplug everything and start over. I was think maybe metal outlets mounted just under the work surface with tool storage just below it. But that's another thread. To justify these pictures being in Projects I just want to say that these are potential projects. BTW the orange bag covers a supply of wood ash to sweeten the soil under the pine trees around our lawn. Silly to have to import it but city living is what it is.Miller Syncrowave 180SDLincoln WeldPak 100 with gasHandheld Milwaukee BandsawO/A Cutting Torch
