I want to build a nose cone out of pipe but I've forgot how to figure out the cuts. Any help would be appreciated.
Reply:Here is what I would do.Start with tube diameter = DTube radius is then r = D / 2Decide how long you want the cone = hCalculate how far down the tube you need to cut out the triangles: (h^2 + r^2)^.5(That is the square root of the h squared plus r squared)Then depending on how heavy walled the tube is you need to decide how many wedges to cut out. Probably a minimum of 8.Mark the end of the tube in 16 places (or twice the number of sections) Measure down the tube form every other mark the distance calculated above and mark. From each mark down the tube draw a line to the end mark on either side (makes a V)Cut along those lines and bend the remaining points in.
