My Brother in Law asked me to bag his 94 Impalla SS. I figured I'd share some pics of the mounts I built for the air tank since I've never posted any pics of my welds. In the last pic the tank is just sitting in the trunk.  It actually gets mounted about 8 inches higher so it's tucked behind his amp.  Let me know what ya think. Good, bad, or indifferent. Reply:Bad..Not my style but whatever floats your boat.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Not my style either... But nice work on the mounts, what did you use to cut them?I like how the little channels you cut hold the nuts securing the tank.Miller Dynasty 300 DXMiller CST280Miller Maxstar 150 STH
Reply:1964 Impalas were a good year for doing that to.
Reply:Thanks guys.  It's not my style either, but he's a good guy so I figured I'd do him a favor. Plus he pays cash!  I'd much rather have a chopped and dropped 50 Ford with a flat head topped with a set of Ardun heads sitting in my garage. Silverado, I used a cheap no name jig saw and about 10 bi metal blades to cut the reliefs out of the middle. It took forever, but it was the only way I could do it.Brianstick, He had a 63 drop top, but got screwed by a "professional" body guy who had the car for 2 years and hacked it up and never finished it.
Reply:Nice work, I like the cut outs for the nuts.welds look good. Now just chop the top about 6-8inches be bitchin then!!!
Reply:Nice lookin job!
Reply:Neat brackets. Cash from this job buys better tools for the next.

Reply:I put the money in the, some day I'll have a mill and lathe, jar. I should probably run 230v out to the garage before I worry about getting a lathe though.  Right now I have to cut everything out and then run to my friends speed shop to weld it. Really sucks when I have two welders sitting next to my bench and can't use them. Why buy it for $10 when you can build it yourself for $100.
Reply:Having equipment you can't use sucks. I would put the money in the "gotta get 220 power fund" it's nit cheap I had $1500 in materials to get power in my gerage. But I now have a 175 amps and can run everything at once and then some. (built in power for future tool purchases)I like the design. You should look at some of the vids on you tube about using a router to cut aluminum. Guys are building wooden templates and the cutting the aluminum with it. Seems like a good idea. Reply:NoBigDeal,  You aint kidding about the cost of materials! I had a quote done last year and it was over 2 grand not including labor! rabidchimp,  Thanks for the link. I've been trying to talk him into letting me build a twin turbo setup for it this winter. I figure if it's going to sit low and mean, it better have something under the hood! Why buy it for $10 when you can build it yourself for $100.
Reply:Nice, my dad has a 96.  I make the expansion tanks for them if he's interested. just check out my site.www.thefusionsolution.com

Reply:Rollin Deep! Not my style, but cool. I'm a racecar and pickup truck guy but appreciate the effort that goes into everything! Nice bud!    Here's a pic of my neighbors car, and I dont talk to many of my neighbors, but this guy built this car in the street, I mean, IN THE STREET! Wet sanding from a fire hydrant, whole nine yds. He even sprayed it in the street! So good work, is good work. Nice job again  Oh and the saying in NYC is your not a real new yorker unlessyou have out of state plates  Attached ImagesI hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys

Reply:HAHA! Gin and Juice!  Makes me think of my high school days, cruisin down the strip along Lake Michigan in my buddy's 95 Grand Am, with 13" 100 spoke rims, a back seat full of speakers, Dr. Dre in the deck, and a Dead Milkmen shirt on. I always hated rap. WelderMike,  That's a good looking Caddy.  Some of the nicest rides I've seen have been built in a driveway or single stall garage.  Never heard of one being built in the steet though. In New York no less! That's badass in my book. Why buy it for $10 when you can build it yourself for $100.
Reply:This thread makes me sad... I love the Impalla SS and I hate bags and big rims.Good work on the fab man.
Reply:Nice tanks mounts, I have bagged several of those cars over the years. I still have my 96 Impala SS garage queen....Adam MMorales Ranch
