where can i get a nice lincoln or miller tig wleder for cheap?

Reply:A DC tig rig is cheap if you have a power source and don't need to weld aluminum.  my weldcraft 200 torch was less than $300 (new) in 2008.  prolly more than that now tho.  If I was starting out again, id  get me an Lincoln AC/DC Idealarc 250 and a DC tig rig.  Get proficent at stick and tig'n, everything else will be a breeze to pick up !

Reply:Moe,Take a welding course first.  Save that $1500.Before Christmas there were at least 2 xmt 304s for around $1100 in Maryland.  Have no idea what they finally went for but I saw them on Craigslist for at least a month.First you have to know what you want.  A multi-process welder for $1500 with no cables, is in fact a very expensive, DC only stick welder.  To make it MIG, you need to add a wire feeder that even used, is going to run $500 or so.  Add gas handling (something to hold bottle and regulate gas flow + bottle itself - and pretty soon your have another $500.  As for TIG, without high frequency start, its not going to be much of TIG machine.  If you can find a high frequency unit, you still have to add torch, +  gas etc.  Call it $800.  Oh, and you can drop $100 on leads easy.  Copper is expensive and quality leads tend to be thick copper.If you really want a TIG machine (how do you know?), your probably better off looking at either a Maxstar series or syncrowave.  If your willing to toss $1500 into the wind, you should probably save up another $1000 and look for a used Dynasty (see ebay).Con Fuse!Miller Dynasty 350Millermatic 350P-Spoolmatic 30AMiller Multimatic 200Hypertherm PowerMax 1000G3Miller Maxstar 200DX
