Mig welder problems please help!

Hey every one I have a Matco tools wfw140 110v mig welder. Model 117-059-003 ser# h117574I bought it a few years ago and it's never worked right since I got it. I guess the best way to describe the problem I'm having is it won't burn into the metal and it skips at times like its not feeding right no matter how I set the settings. So far I've replaced the liner to the handle ( i don't know the proper term) replaced the tip in the handle I've cleaned the ground wire and the clamp replaced the 110 plug and got a new spool of wire and I'm out of ideas and Ive got race cars to weld up before racing season and I'm sick of barrowing welders! lol please help me!  I hope I've gave you guys enough info and thanks in advance.

Reply:I've been running it off my honda eg 5000 generator with nothing else on it but the welder and haven't experince much of a difference from a regular wall socket. Has anyone ever had a bad spot in the ground cable itself?

Reply:Check your wire feed adjustment to see if it is within specs. After that, put it up on Craigslist and use whatever you can get out of it to purchase a welder that will get the job done right. Reply:Haha all I'm welding is body brackets and little odds and ends at the moment. nothing major but this is disappointing because I have been investing little by little in all the tools I will need to build my own roll cages and I thought this welder would be good enough. I did get it laying decent beads today by taking the ground clamp off and stripping the wire back and vise griping it to the chassis. I guess I'm gonna have to break out the tig my dad left me and learn how to use it. Reply:Are you running off your 30 amp receptacle?  Need to, if not.
Reply:No I'm not. I don't even have a 30 amp plug anywhere in my shop. I could build me a short drop cord to plug into my generator but I'd hate to waste the money if the generator isn't enough to handle the welder. But the problem does seem to be with power. To get it to weld I had the power turned all the way up and it will weld good for a second or two then it acts like its not feeding wire fast enough then the wire will catch up and it will weld good again and I've adjusted every setting on it every way possible and it makes really no differences.
Reply:Make sure the groove in the roller in your wire feed mechanism is clean.  Make sure you are using the proper size groove for your wire.Make sure there is not too much pressure on the wire as it goes through the roller.  If there is too much pressure, it will make your round flux core wire into an oval shaped flux core wire.  The problem you will have later is when the oval shaped wire tries to go through the round hole tip.  It no will fitty.HH187Harris O/AInfrared thermometerHalf a dozen angle grinders
