I bought a box of Lincoln 6011 1/8 rods the other day, they are hard to start, they stick really bad and sometimes about half way through the rod the arc starts to fizzle out and then they stick and the flux catches fire all the way to the stinger. did I get a bad batch? tried them on ac and dcep. ac I varied the amps from 115,130 and 145. same result. on dc I tried severa different settings also, same result.Lincoln 225 ac (my first machine)farmhand 115vac 70amp mig/fc toymiller aead 200le (my main machine)
Reply:What color are they. I've not tried Lincoln 6011's for a long time now but they used to make one that was red that I absolutely hated. At the time they made two different ones and I didn't like either one.Millermatic 252XMT 304'sDynasty 280DXHypertherm PowerMax 1250Miller Trailblazer 302 EFIOptima PulserXR feeder and XR Edge gun and more athttp://members.dslextreme.com/users/waynecook/index.htm
Reply:I've had the best luck with Hobart's 335A 6011.I'll bet your Lincoln rods are to dry, dip them in water and let air dry for a day or two. You should see a big difference in their performance then.Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:yea they are a brownish red color. I usually use the Hobart 6011 and they work really well. also with these there barely any slag and what is there is very hard to remove.Lincoln 225 ac (my first machine)farmhand 115vac 70amp mig/fc toymiller aead 200le (my main machine)

Reply:My thought too. I like 80-90A on 1/8 6010 / 6011.
Reply:Where did you buy them?'contaminating tungstens like there's no tomorrow'
Reply:I bought them at home depot. the 6013 1/8 burnt really good so while I was getting more of them I decided to get the 6011 1/8 too. next time im going to tractor supply and getting the Hobart 6011s here is a pic of some short beads with the Lincoln 6011 1/8 I have been staggering through.Lincoln 225 ac (my first machine)farmhand 115vac 70amp mig/fc toymiller aead 200le (my main machine)
Reply:How about clean metal and a good ground?
Reply:From my experience with those rods it won't help. I've never had any rod run worse than those did. They finger nailed nearly every rod. I spent all my time trying to break off the excess flux rather than controlling the puddle. Reply:6011 5p+ run like a dream. The red suck to much whipping action need.
Reply:I'm starting to sound like a salesman. If you ever run a Hilco 6011 or any of their 5 flavors of 6013 you'll never use the Lincoln or Hobart equivalent again.Bubble gumTooth pixDuct tapeBlack glueGBMF hammerScrew gun --bad battery (see above)

Reply:I love hilcos 6013....but their 7018s are dirt! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:Why is that? I felt they welded really well no porosity and easy restartsSent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Reply:When u weld with high end 7018s like bohler or oerlikon then u just can't go back to welding with those ol ordinary hilco 7018s...for flat welds there fine...but when I tryed them on pipe they sucked!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:Ohhh I see your point. I was referring to just practicing with themSent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk

Reply:Hi Doug I did and works very well. It was easier to restart and didn't get any porositySent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Reply:The Lincoln 6011 from lowes and home depot are junk. I bought a box from there one time and they ran like crap so I assumed I just got a bad batch so a couple months later I bought another box and same problem.
