Any ideas as to what kind of places that would have the ability to roll 3/8 plate into 24" "pipe" probably 30" long or so. If I was on the gulf coast it would be easy to find pipe that big but I'm here in west Tennessee
Reply:Do you have any idea what it would cost to make what you want?Better off starting here.http://www.fedsteel.com/products-and...-and-tube.html...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Maybe there is a salvage yard somewhere near you that would have some pipeline pipe, casing or cassion leftovers.
Reply:Rolling the steel into pipe can be done by most welding shops that build pressure tanks, ground storage tanks, etc.  However, cost will be significant unless you have a buddy because these machines are very expensive and a small side job like this will be considered down-time in the eyes of the production manager.  I would suggest like these other guys that you try and find some used pipe somewhere locally.Matthew MortonTexas A&M '06Logsdon Seminary '13"Who Dares Wins""AFTF""WH2PH"SA 200 (Code: 5337)TB 302CP 302 w/22A Wire FeederMillerMatic 200Miller Syncrowave 200MillerMatic 252BurnTables 4x4 CNC MachineHypertherm 65
Reply:I use a shop in columbia Tn called BMC metal works. They do plate great, but their angle roll sucks.
Reply:Why not just get a piece of pipe the size you want.
Reply:If you are any where close to Loudon Tn.  There are several fab shops that would probably have the pipe you need.  Hunt around for Kelly construction or others.  There are several chemical plants and a power plant in the area.Dan D.
Reply:Thanks for the tips had no idea it would be that costly to roll. Will keep an eye out at the scrap yards
Reply:I do this quite often, but in alum. The question is whether you want a roll, weld, and reroll, or you will do the welding. In my case, I have them weld the outside(which sucks), then I reweld it for full penetration. Here is an example. See the weld on the inside. Cost for this on is $900 material included. That is an easy one. I would guess $400, plus material. If they weld it add another couple of hundred.http://www.ammetalforming.com/images/LineCard.pdfWeld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li  ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.
