Fell asleep watching TV, woke up to 3 British guys driving through India or Burma(?). As they are fording a stream, one truck breaks down. They leave the guy behind, a local pulls him out of the stream. Once on dry land he loans him a "Welder". They show a quick shot of a computer type power strip with a cord stripped back, the 2 ends of bare wire shoved in with wooden sticks to hold them! The British guy has an electrode holder in his hand with a rod in it welding underneath his truck! They didn't show the actual welding machine, but it was DEFINITELY interesting to see the Power Source connection!

Reply:Saw that too! I love that show, greatest job in the world. As per the rules, if you break down, you get left behind. Lol.Sent from my Galaxy S3
Reply:I think the best one was the trip across africa, the first one. Or the rent a car special, traveling from florida to new orleans.

Reply:I still like the one where they drive through Mississsippi and Bama, and deliberately try to annoy the locals. Mission accomplished! They get chased out of town and shot at. Serves them right.I missed the Burma welding, though. Who (Clarkson, May, the short guy) was using it to weld?
Reply:I think it was Hammond's truck. But it was the local doing the "welding".Sent from my Galaxy S3
Reply:It was May on the Burma trip. He welded the pto shaft for his hydraulic pump on a boom truck. Hammond had to weld his A arm on the second Africa trip. In both cases they showed the presenters doing the welding. It wouldn't surprise me that both Hammond, and May can weld. They've both shown mechanical aptitude. On the other hand Clarkson makes it plain that he's not very apt at anything mechanical.Millermatic 252XMT 304'sDynasty 280DXHypertherm PowerMax 1250Miller Trailblazer 302 EFIOptima PulserXR feeder and XR Edge gun and more athttp://members.dslextreme.com/users/waynecook/index.htm

Reply:No question they are staged and scripted. They do a pretty good job of making it look like it's just spur of the moment but if you follow them closely you can tell it's not.Millermatic 252XMT 304'sDynasty 280DXHypertherm PowerMax 1250Miller Trailblazer 302 EFIOptima PulserXR feeder and XR Edge gun and more athttp://members.dslextreme.com/users/waynecook/index.htm |
