Here's a worklight I made from a riding lawnmower battery and a cheap automotive light kit.Two 50 watt bulbs. You can turn and point the lights where you want them (use gloves since they get HOT!). It puts out LOTS of light and burns for hours. There's a 'dongle' that connects to a trickle charger. I leave it on the trickle charger all the time and just pull it off when I need it. Reply:My wife liked the worklight, but she complained it was too heavy. So I made another light out of the smallest motorcycle/atv battery I could find. The battery weights 4 lbs. The whole thing weighs maybe 5 or 6 lbs.It has the same 'dongle' for connecting to the trickle charger. I'm thinking about changing this to some sort of drop-in charger. The light made with the riding lawn mower battery was designed to be a worklight where you set it up and it burns for hours while you're working. This one was designed to be use more as a flashlight that you carry around. I won't burn nearly as long with the smaller battery. Reply:Nice build! I've had a similar worklight in mind, but using a cheap 35W HID conversion for cars - you get equal to about 150W halogen light out of a single 35W HID, so you can choose to have alot more light, alot longer battery life, or alot smaller battery. Probably a little of all options for me.
Reply:Looks great! Now make it useful. Make a battery stand with extendable legs for a wider footprint on the ground. Then get an extension pole like the antennas for those TV news trucks to get the light high in the sky! ... well, not THAT high! Attached Images
Reply:Nice work! Those lights are slick.-Zach"I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my grandfather.. Not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car."

Reply:I would make a piece of wood for it to sit on so your charge/battery lasts longer.
Reply:It sits on a table in the shop when not in use.When I'm using it, I don't think it'll spend enough time on the ground to matter.Dynasty200DX w/coolmate1MM210MM VintageESAB miniarc161ltsLincoln AC225Victor O/A, Smith AW1ACutmaster 81IR 2475N7.5FPRage3Jancy USA1019" SBAEAD-200LE

Reply:On the big one, I would add a fuse, almost set the truck on fire once. had to pull the wire from the post with my hand while the insulation was melting off, i would never make that mistake again."Those who hammer their guns into plows will plow for those who do not."Thomas Jefferson."When the people fear their government, there is tyranny when the government fears the people, there is liberty."Thomas Jefferson.
