Reply:the first thing you need to do is get the front of the frame as straight as you can. Reply:This isn't the picture of it but the wrecked part is what it looks like... the frame is straight checked it. We are going to be savaging parts off other jeeps in his junk yard.Lincoln 140 Pak MIG Everlast powerarc 140 STLincoln Tombstone
Reply:Cut that bent center Pc out big hammer and blocks of wood I would use the 1/4inch plate for the brkts the rest is do out of 1/8 and maybe 3/16 other wise that thing will need new front suspension
Reply:OUCHcopy the old mounts,if you need to see if you can find a undamaged unit to take a few pictures of or measurements, or are you talking about the front cross brace panel, that many times is what the radiator bolted to, Looks like you many need more body parts than just a bumper, Is the frame damaged? is it bend in any of its crust zones?does he have insurance on it, (if he does I would think it looks like a job for a professional body shop, that know what there looking for and how to fix it,

Reply:I once made some bumpers out of 1/4" plate for a customer. Ended up being a lot easier than I originally thought but it was still a pain mounting it to the vehicle and his vehicle was in good shape!John 3:16(2) Miller Pheonix 456(2) Millermertic 252Dynasty 210DXHobart 210MVPDoringer D350 SA Cold SawScotchman 350LT Cold SawWebb 10x50 MillWebb 15x40 LatheGeka Bendicrop Ironworker

Reply:In the late 70's Massachusetts passed a law that any vehicle that had been in water would be titled salvage only. No one really wants Ted Kennedy's car but those from fresh water sometimes make great donors. We did BMWs. Remove the interior, drill out spot welds, cut the A pillars, and floor pan. Rent the best MIG Miller offers, paste it together. It's surprising how well it works. On one car we used 1 cup of bondo, most of that got sanded off. My friend drove it 14 more years until VT road salt swallowed it up.

Reply:I would most likely take some light weigh tubing and make a similar header panel, and if I thought it need to be filled in would use light weight sheet steel in the areas, but I would guess one can either find a front clip off a unit that rear end damage or buy parts to rebuild, I do not for sure what the model you have, but my quick search I did, It looks like one could buy for a lower cost than making it, and if one wanted to reinforce the manufactured unit that is different, |
