I applied at my local 166 plumbers and steamfitters unionin Fort Wayne Indiana I passed the exam and at the first interview the training coordinator said they are only bringing back the top 30 for 2 interviews. So I got a letter for a second interview and drug test. What should I expect does this mean I have a good chance of being in the program ?
Reply:Sounds like it. My local hall only does one interview and then the hall mails you about a month later with either an acceptance letter or a rejection letter.Dress nice and remember if you are applying for the apprenticeship program it is either for 4-5 years. They are not looking to hire someone that needs a " job" they are looking for guys that want "careers" and who will be doing this their entire life. It also helps if you let them know this, I left a job that paid $19.00 an hour to start as a first year apprentice at $11.50. I knew it was a short term sacrifice but it was rewarded with much higher pay in the end.Local 83
