I got a job building the steel for a Cabellas store. They needed a certafied welder. I showed them my 3G unlimited thickness in MIG. It was accepted. The inspector asked for a WPS. I copied some numbers and sent them to my customer who sent them to the inspector. He asked me if the WPS had to be stamped by a CWI. I have no clue. I created the WPS from the miller website and Lincoln welding handbook.DavidPicsYup that is me up there using a Miller Passport with .035 wire.Real world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:The ones I've done in the past, were submitted to the engineer of record. He / she would stamp, and sign, and return a copy to the job site. The 3rd party inspection company would view the WPSs before inspecting.Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400

Reply:Good for you David. I've missed your posts. You'll have to keep us all updated with picts on this job.I'm guessing this is all steel framing for the "mountain" for the taxidermy display..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:If he's the inspector for the job, why is he asking you if the WPS needs to be stamped? Did he ask for a PQR for the procedure?
Reply:From what it looks like all of your joints there look prequalified. I would be more concerned with you doing short circuit mig on something thats reported to be structural. Thats probably why hes asking if the WPS was stamped because its definitely not a pre approved WPS.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches. |
