I just want to say that I do not know how I went so long without a Speedglas 9100xx. You cannot say one bad thing about that hood. The headgear is super comfy. Wore it today for 9 hours (would have been straight but the two 15 minute breaks and lunch I took it off) and never felt the need to take it off. I love the design of the pivot. Never had to worry about the curtains at work knocking off my hood when walking through them. The optics are amazing. Better than anything else I've ever owned (Truesight, a Speedglas 100V, and a good ole Arc One Tradesman 2x4). Did I mention the headgear? The side windows: not sure why the other companies aren't jumping on that idea. Love that the knobs on the side have two different functions. I could go on and on about this hood but I won't.Big F**king HammerJumper cables & 2 marine batteriesJaws of life
Reply:+1 on that. I've had my 91xx for about a month.http://www.facebook.com/LockhartMetalArthttp://www.facebook.com/pages/Grumpy...44306259043484
Reply:I have a Speedglas 9000X (pre 3M) that I've been using for more than ten years. It's an excellent unit. I like that it's light and has very long battery life.Miller Millermatic 252Miller Syncrowave 200Liincoln AC-DC 225Victor O-A Set
Reply:I've ran Miller and Jackson hoods, and finally got a speedglas (non 3M) after using some instructors and buddy's helmets, and I love the darn thing, so light weight, keeps pressure off the sides of my head. They're fantastic helmets. Especially the new side windowed new headgear ones.
Reply:Those look like awesome helmets and I want one bad but something I dont understand is why on these expensive top of the line bad *** helmets dont they have 4 arc sensors. Even the Jacksson Balder only has 2 arc sensors.. U figure for the extra cost of these premium helmets they would have 4 arc sensors like most "mid-range" helmets. for the extra cash it cost why not 5 or 6 sensors and have a solar panel and internal battery that could last 10 years without replacement.HH140---------------------------https://www.facebook.com/brandon.pike.9
Reply:The 9100 series has 3 sensors. The 9100V and 9100X also have a solar panel. The 9100XX with the largest viewing area simply does not have enough room for a solar panel.I have had mine for 3 years and it is still on the original batteries. The cost to change the 2 batteries is less than 10$ so it is not a problem.

Reply:I never knew about the parking position thing. The head gear is the absolute best out there. They say they had some old chinese acupuncture fella come in and help design it to keep the harness off pressure points on the head.
Reply:For overhead stick, and mig work I loved the helmet, for tig I did not. The three sensors did the helmet in as I would flash myself mid weld sometimes cause of the shape/size of the part blocking the sensors along with my hands. So I got a Jackson nexgen and all those problems went away.

Reply:I have an old 9000X Speedglas. It has two scales on it. One is for outdoors 9-13 and the other is for indoors with a sensitivity knob for 9-13. Whenever I turn it on to start welding. I test it by aiming it at my overhead lights to make sure that it stops down to the proper setting. I've never been flashed yet. It works for me.Miller Millermatic 252Miller Syncrowave 200Liincoln AC-DC 225Victor O-A Set
