Looking for something I can use to make bends in just about all materials, ranging from solid rod to square tubing, up to 2" 11ga, but it's always nice to have a larger capacity. I already have a roll bender which has a MINIMUM bend radius of about 5" ID. Is the JD2 Model 32 bender the only way to go? I would love a cheaper option. The price for the bender itself isn't too bad, it's the dies that look like would kill me, and they look way to complex for me to machine myself.John 3:16(2) Miller Pheonix 456(2) Millermertic 252Dynasty 210DXHobart 210MVPDoringer D350 SA Cold SawScotchman 350LT Cold SawWebb 10x50 MillWebb 15x40 LatheGeka Bendicrop Ironworker
Reply:Yes, the model 4 is the best bender on the market for the price.

Reply:I have a pro-tools bender it works good also
Reply:When you get to 2" you start to narrow your selection of benders - JD2, Hossfeld or one of the many Hossfeld clones should work. The JD2 style benders look good if you aren't going to do much other than tube. The Hossfelds are hands down the most flexible given all the dies available and the ability to bend flat, angle, tube, etc.I have a Howron bender and a Hossfeld, each has a place in the shop. The Howron gets the light small work, but the Hossfeld is the go to for the heavier and more intricate bends. I learned to bend on the Howron, and as I get more use to bending with the Hossfeld the Howron might have to find a new home.Andy-------------------------Miller Bobcat 250 / Dynasty 200DXHobart HH 140Hypertherm PowerMax 380Kalamazoo 8C BandsawHowron Bender / Hossfeld #2 Bender
Reply:I have bent alot of odd parts and materials on the jd model 4. I probably have twice as many homemade dies for it as I do for either of my hossfelds and thats alot. Now a days I only use it for tubing mostly since I have bigger and better machines.

Reply:There is a nice bender with a name that starts with D. If you google it misspelled the results are def NWS. The real company also shows up so not all is lost.
Reply:To the best of my knowledge, nothing can bend as much different stock as a Hossfeld, but dies are pricey.I always thought I'd never have the need bend angle iron, but lo and behold.....Sent from my XT907 using TapatalkLincoln SA 200Esab Caddy 160Thermal Arc 201TSMiller Dialarc HFI don't like making plans for the day because then the word "premeditated" gets thrown around the courtroom.... |
