here are some pics of my motorcycle project im working on.its a 1980 yamaha xs400, and i wanted to make a cafe racer so i chopped some stuff off and started on custom fabricating a tank and rear fender. The rear fender is 100% custom and the tank i chopped off the sides and top and kept the bottom so it would be guaranted to fit but this maybe wasnt so smart because that 30 yr old "tin" metal didnt weld to nice, it worked, no leaks or porocity but man did it look like crap and it was hard to weld the new stainless to it, but like i said, it worked keeping the bottom of the stock stank also limited myself in the design and fab work so i i may make a whole new one from scratch so i make the exact shape im looking for. here is the fender work and then the mock up for the tank with the fender on the bike and the bike it was fun doing a lot of the work, i drew up the pieces got them punched out, then rolled and clamped and hammered them into place and mocking up pieces as i went, trial and error finding out what i could roll, bend, cut, shear to make things fit
Reply:more images this is the original tank bottom welded to the new ss...pretty isnt it!!?!?!

Reply:You might want to keep the image size smaller than the forum width, because when they are too wide the right edge will disappear, along with some of the text.Nice job on the bike tho.
