Mig issues

im using a hf 121 120 amp 220 volt welder running .030 soild wire and CO2 gas. I have the metal as clean as i can get it 97% of the mig scale off grind thin high speed air sander. When i start to weld its good has that nice frying bacon sound thin it starts popping any one know whats wrong.

Reply:Those machines are known to have erratic feed issues. I can think of several reasons why this might be the problem. If you bend the liner as you move along, you might apply just enough drag to the wire to cause the feed rate to drop just enough to cause popping as the wire slows, bunches up and then jumps forward. Many of those inexpensive machines also pull feed power off the transformer. As you weld near max duty cycle, your weld power drops and as a result feed power decreases as well. Again this can cause erratic feed issues..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear.
