My 12 y/o found this at church garage sale ($15) today. I am strictly an amateur, so here is a question of ignorance - I can see the tv screen through the gold lens - something I would have not thought normal......but then I took the lend out and it is marked WC10.....I Googled and got some hits that make me think it could be something special.....Is it?Thanks,JoeSent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Reply:Wow! Sad thing is they told him they had a whole box of lenses that he could have....we looked all over but could not locate them.  The took our number and said they would call if they found them......but no call came.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Reply:I'd be happy getting one for around 60 to 80 but I just can't justify spending the 400 to 500 prices that they bring, I guess I just have to keep hoping to find a dealMiller Legend AEAD 200LE

Reply:Yeah I looked at the wens lens one online, right now I just have the standard gold lenses from Phillips safety, I don't think they were alloweld though.  Might try one after I use up the ones I have, I've been laid off so all my money right now goes to supplies to keep practicingMiller Legend AEAD 200LE
Reply:Curious, but what makes the "cool blue" lens so special?   Apparently $300-400 dollars of "special" at that.Lincoln Power Mig 216Lincoln AC/DC-225/125Miller  625 X-Treme PlasmaMiller 211 Forney 95FI-A 301HF 91110Victor Journeyman O/PMilwaukee DaytonMakita  Baileigh NRA Life Member

Reply:As JD said Phillips makes one similar or so they say. I just read an article that says they are looking for old pitted or broken lenses for people to sent them so they can do their magic to attempt to reproduce this lens. If a company is looking to do that there must be something about them that phenomenal or they to are to cheap to pay the 500 they get. Although they did say they don't want to remove a useable AO lens from service.

Reply:Dos anyone know how the "cool blue" lens  compares to a gold lens?     I wish I could find the perfect lens that gives me a good bright image of my work, such as the image in this old video at 7:47.  When I set my auto darkening helmet at #9, it's still too dark for me.  Bright sunlight does little to help me out too.  I'm thinking about getting a "gold" lens that I keep hearing about.   Lincoln Power Mig 216Lincoln AC/DC-225/125Miller  625 X-Treme PlasmaMiller 211 Forney 95FI-A 301HF 91110Victor Journeyman O/PMilwaukee DaytonMakita  Baileigh NRA Life Member
Reply:@ 7A749 - Check.  Reminds me of the S&B fan boys touting the optical "superiority" of their glass over NF or USO scopes. More expensive scopes do not produce 'better' shooters.  Focused training and core tactics does.  The Indian and bow analogy.  Won't see me paying $350-$500 for a flat piece of cool azul glass for a welding helmet.  No way.  Will stick (and MIG and TIG) with my $20 Athermal Au-plated glass and Pipeliners.Last edited by ManoKai; 04-27-2014 at 09:44 PM."Discovery is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought" - Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
Reply:Never used a cool blue, but I use green glass for stick and used to with tig, then I switched to gold for tig and it was amazing how much better I could see.  So now I use two hoods one with green for stick and gold for tig.  I wouldn't spend 400 for one but if I ever get a deal I'll get one just too see how it compares.  I think next I'm going to try the wens lens that Jd suggested thoughMiller Legend AEAD 200LE
Reply:Sure its not one of the gold poly lenses that help reflect light back to weld. I have a old Fibre Metal helmet that has one of them in it they help.
