I thought it meant the number of holes and number of decimal places.I'm studying for a quiz I'm having next week and while reading my notes I came across this:(The 0 is supposed to be a diameter symbol and there is supposed to be depth symbol after the 60 degrees. * is supposed to be degree symbol)V 0 3/8 X 60* (followed by depth symbol) 1.00So would it mean: countersink has diameter of 3/8 and the hole is 1 inch welded at a 60 degree angle?

Reply:XX° F is correct for degrees F with the XX being the variable. Note the small circle indicating degrees as in a temperature. The same symbol is use for degrees such as 45° 20 minutes. This would indicate an angle. Ø would be the symbol for diameter. The X in a welding callout could mean the electrode used is up to the fabricator, such as E70XX would say E=electrode, 70 means 70 KSI and XX means it could be 14, 18, 24, which indicate position, and flux, etc. Example: E7014, E7018, E7024.
Reply:hole diameter is 3/8" and countersunk angle is 60° ?Then you still need a depth to which you need to countersink.

Reply:Take it to represent the word "by", as in 3/8" inch diameter by 60 degree angle to a depth of 1.00". |
