Here is a building I am putting up for my tractor, four wheeler, and other impliments. Yesterdays project was to fab and weld close to 40 brackets so I can run nailers to hang some boards. The building is 19x27 with 9' walls and 12' center. I had the concrete poured so I can hang 8' boards and to keep it locked down. I'm gonna close the whole thing, and from start to finish the total cost will be around 3g. Nice and cheap for anybody looking to put up a cheap welding shop. This one is only for storage for me. Assembly was included in the price of the building, a crew of guys put it up in about 4 hrs. The building itself was only 2g, and it is from one of those South Carolina companies that advertise in tool rental places. My Miller Maxstar saved my butt again. worth its weight in gold when I need it. Attached ImagesI hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
Reply:That's excellent Mike! I need something like that for my truck camper. I might just use pier blocks on the four corners though to keep the cost down. Have to figure out if it'll be enough weight to hold in the winds, though. You doing sheet steel on the sides too? $3k seems like a very reasonable price. Keep us posted with photo's.200amp Air Liquide MIG, Hypertherm Plasma, Harris torches, Optrel helmet, Makita angle grinders, Pre-China Delta chop saw and belt sander, Miller leathers, shop made jigs etc, North- welders backpack.
Reply:hey..whats the snow load?..alot more than south carolina....lol..you going board and batten on the outside?..Of all the things I lost I miss my mind the most...I know just enough about everything to be dangerous......You cant cure stupid..only kill it...

Reply:Mike, Looks good sure wish I had something like that to keep equipment out of the elements.
Reply:That's pretty sweet, Mike.I've been tossing around the idea of getting, either one of these, or a shipping container to make into a media blast room. Are (or did) you going to pour the floor or just the the footers?Brian LeonardAppalachian Ironworks L.L.C.434 Long Branch Rd, Marshall, NC 28753828 649 9966828 702 [email protected]

Reply:Pickn n Pokin, got some more work done today. Got the other half of the brackets welded up, and all the nailers hung. Ughh stinks by yourself, was wishing I had kids today! Attached ImagesI hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
Reply:Hey Weldermike, do those footings have any in ground depth or are they just above ground?
Reply:No Larry, there's rails in there that are lagged to the ground, the footers are just for extra wind support.I hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
Reply:Cool. Also help keep the sheets away from the ground/moisture and in my case it would help seal the building to the slab without adding some sort of flashing.  Good to keep mice and other rodents out.
Reply:X bracing Needed.

Reply:Well, I actually found some time to get a little more work done on this building. Starting to come along nice. I spread my self so thin it's hard to keep up with my own self sometimes  Here's a pic with my little buddy helper Tom, and he's off to welding school at Hobarts in Ohio shortly, so I gotta grab the extra help quick, he'll be gone for nine months.  Attached ImagesI hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
Reply:Must be nice to live where something like that is considered "temporary". I was talking to a guy who works for my buddy and lives two blocks over the other day. Township came around and fined him for not having a permit for the tent his son put up around his truck he's working on. Temporary or not, the township wants it's money and he had to go thru all the BS to pull permits on a tent....No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Originally Posted by 7A749I have a carport very similar to yours. I ran the same kind of metal the roof is made of for the sides. Put a sliding door also made from that & some scrap. It just butts right up to my gable entry garage. The company that sold it wanted a fortune for the side pieces. Went to a big box store & bought some 18' pieces on sale. Put them up in an afternoon & ran some treated 2"X12"s for the base boards.I think I paid around $1300 in 2003 or so. It's got extra height like 8' walls & is 25' long. Three Mexican dudes showed up & put it together in about three hours. I didn't have to touch a thing. Even set it in the concrete pad with lag screws & lead collars.Yours is looking good. They're very useful little structures & since its considered "temporary" by the City, no taxes or permits required.IMHO of course
