Another in a series of name plaques for a co-worker....... I get to make them as I  please....... $40 each is what I quoted........ I have 11 to do...... 3 down so far.......Front is 1/4" Aluminum with C channel as the base.....I spent 6 hours today with a plasma and the Dremmel......  5 minutes of welding........ Reply:looks cool dude.Good job.Are you using a plasma to cut out the writing, or doing the old drill & file?I've done one or two things around here for the Mrs with our initials, and its a fair amount of work drilling and filing.
Reply:Looks alright for 40$. I would have used something other than those screws though. Counter sunk would look nice or standard bolts. If nothing else I'd turn the screw slots so they all line up. Just my thoughts.

Reply:You should also look into guys that do laser cutting, there's a company that I deal with that runs machines 24/7 and at times I can get the piece laser cut for the same price or cheaper than I can even by material for it.
Reply:Looks good Fexal. Good on ya Voodoo for helping a guy out like that.  That being said, if these are for children, I think the hand cut letters add a bit of charm to them. As for attaching the plate to the channel. You could use a 2 part epoxy and then you could box the ends of the channel off. And do away with any fasteners.
