Need helping removing a stinger

Im new to welding and have no idea how to remove this style stinger, its the twist style and im trying to remove it without having to cut the cable. Any suggestions otherwise? Sent from my HTC6990LVW using Tapatalk Attached Images
Reply:learning_arcExamine it 360 degrees - top to bottom - there should be a round hole leading to an allen set screw.Gently experiment with the twist direction - turn it in the direction that gets easier.  Sometimes the turn will release just the cable - screw out.Sometimes it releases an in internal brass body that the cable goes into - screw in.Photos of different elevations would help.Opus.Last edited by OPUS FERRO; 05-29-2014 at 04:13 PM.Reason: is'es and an's
Reply:You might try unscrewing the head. The stingers at the tech school if you unscrew the head, the handle can slide off and you can access the clamp where the cable attaches. Not having seen your style before, I couldn't say exactly how yours comes apart, but if you can't find a hole in the handle for an Allen key, That would be my thoughts as a next step..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Figured it out, there wasn't any set screw, the handle was stuck to it with grime and what not I guess. It turns out it was unscrew able under the old *** handle. I'll post a picture.

Reply:Miller 275, but I kept it. Bought a new handle for it today and going to attach it to a new whip Monday. In hindsight, I should have left it on, it was a lot more comfortable than the newer one. What size cable should I be running off of this machine?
