What is the best way to cut a strip off 1/8 steel diamond plate without a shear? Can it be done with an abrasive cutoff blade?
Reply:I would draw a good line and use a saber saw. Then do a little touch up filing.

Reply:I did that very cut just yesterday to make a new bottom plate in a 400A subpanel so I could put big holes in it without turning the factory bottom into swiss cheese from all the knockouts.I didn't have my plasma with me because I wasn't expecting this type of cut, but I used my 18V DeWalt Metal Saw.  It's a 6.75" circular saw with a carbide metal-cutting blade.  It did an excellent job.  I would think any of the carbide blades designed for cutting steel from a circular saw would work well.If I were to do it with an abrasive blade, I would prefer one of the very thin ones in one of my grinders, preferably one of my high speed air grinders.
Reply:PLASMA, O/A torch, abrasive wheels remind me too much of WORK, and I got a bad case of toos disease.Appreciation Gains You Recognition-
Reply:whoops.. way off topic on this one.. -brainfarthCommon sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:Thanks! Just what I needed . I'm going to buy a blade for the circ saw.
