A week or two ago I was reading a trailer thread and somebody was explaining the reasons slipper springs were better than a shackle style setup for tandem trailers. Had to do with axle alignment and tire wear. I have tried searching for all the related terms and discovered there are a lot of trailer threads here. Can anyone point me in the right direction?Lincolin Power Wave 450, Lincoln Powermig 255, Lincoln Pro Mig 140, Lincoln Squarewave Tig 275, Miller Big 40 G(with Hobart Hefty suitcase), Thermal Arc 95S and Esab PCM875 in an already full machine shop.
Reply:Is this the one you were thinking of? I believe what you described was mentioned in this thread somewhere.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...latbed-Trailer

Reply:It really boils down to matching the suspension with the anticipated load.Heavier isn't necessarily better either  Heavy duty suspension will beat itself to death if under loaded.Empty miles wear suspensions just as much, if not more than loaded miles.  The slapping is murder when running empty.  Actually I'd go out on a limb, and say that empty miles are the WORST"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
