I was looking around CL and found a dayton ac/dc 250 amp arc welder for cheap, does anyone know of these machines and are they worth it? It has leads and it works. Steve
Reply:Good machine. Not blue ot red but still good. How much they asking?GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:100.00, I'm worried about the electrical service required for a 250amp machine. I have a 50amp now.
Reply:You should have enough to run that high enough for almost all hobby projects. At least more than enough to run 1/8" rods.Price sounds good sight unseen, especially for an AC/DC unit. Those are pretty tough and hold up reasonably well, so it should out last you..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Thanks anyway guys, I just found out he sold it. Oh well, the search continues. SteveLast edited by Basicwelder54; 06-08-2014 at 03:46 PM.
Reply:That sucks. I would buy those for 100 all day long.GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:50 amp service will run a 250 amp machine. My 300 amp Miller calls for 58 amps. Besides, you will not likely run it at 250 amps.
Reply:Too bad. I think I have the same machine you are talking about. It's a good unit. Also bought mine for $100 but it didn't come with a power cord.John 3:16(2) Miller Pheonix 456(2) Millermertic 252Dynasty 210DXHobart 210MVPDoringer D350 SA Cold SawScotchman 350LT Cold SawWebb 10x50 MillWebb 15x40 LatheGeka Bendicrop Ironworker |
