flowmeter on suitcase

Anyone ever run a flowmeter on the suitcase for long distances? I come across a job where im running 75 feet of argon hose and it would make sense to me to run a double regulator. Reason being would be for the fact of the initial purge of gas that it takes to fill the volume of the hose. Maybe im just thinking to hard? Anyone have an input I would appreciate it. I figured I would run maybe 50 lbs of pressure from the tank to the suitcase in order to keep that push, then run whatever I want to the actual gun.

Reply:thanks a bunch. I bought two lengths for now. A 25 footer with quick disconnects and a 50 footer with quick disconnects, that way I only use what I need and then add more if I need it.Appreciate the reply, Greg

Reply:beauty. thank you all for your expertise advice. expat i've been doing a lot of heavy equipment repair, but nothing to your caliper. I really want to buy a plane ticket to ghana to work on that gold mining equipment. I hear from locals that some of those guys in ghana that run the machines all day hire americans. They pay there way and even a place to crash there. Sometimes giving them 1500 us a week. Maybe this is bs?

Reply:I worked in a shop where we had really long argon hoses on the welders and every welder had a flow regulator on the feeder. It was kind of handy actually.
Reply:Hello lovetoweld, I am a little bit late on this, yet, the newer LN 25's use exactly that sort of set-up incorporated into their cases. Helps to prevent the "puff" that can be experienced when you trigger the gun. Think of this in terms of how a garden hose reacts. When the hose is turned on it flows water out of the end of it at a given rate. If you put your thumb over the end and stop the flow of water for a moment or two and then take your finger off you will initially notice an increase in flow from the built up pressure. With a flowmeter or regulator located at the tank and a long run of hose you can experience a similar sort of thing. Having the flowmeter located at the suitcase will limit this effect. It's kind of splitting hairs in some cases, yet for some this appears to be important and worth addressing.Good luck and best regards, Allanaevald
Reply:For shielding gas, I just use a 50' regular 1/4" rubber air hose with Milton fittings. Harbor Freight sells the Goodyear ones cheap.
