Has anyone had any experience with the Homier Speedway 03947 Mini Milling machine? Is it worth the money? Do you have any recommendations for other mini milling machines?
Reply:(1) What's your top price?(2) How much room do you have?(3) Weight a problem? Ie. going down/up stairs?(4) How big of a milling table do you need?(5) New or used ok?(6) 115v, 230v or is three phase ok?(7) Desk top or floor model?
Reply:AV8OR,I don't plan on spending much. I only need a hobby machine. I have plenty of room, I just don't need a large machine. Weight is not a problem. Used would be fine. 115v, 230v, single phase, three phase, I am equipped. I would prefer a desktop, but would consider a small floor model. I only NEED a 3 x 15 or so table.
Reply:Ahhhhhh now I know what a "Homier Mini Mill" is! Everything I was thinking about was $1.4K and up so I guess you don't want to go that high. I would highly advise though what ever you get make sure it has a R8 spindle taper. This way when you out grow it and want to move up all your tooling can be used on the bigger machine. Check out this link I think you'll like it and it will answer your question.http://www.mini-lathe.com/Mini_mill/...s/versions.htmHere is a list of knee mills from cheap ($1400) not so cheap ($3850). There is a lot more than this though!http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=40939http://www.grizzly.com/products/item...emnumber=G9959http://www.grizzly.com/products/item...emnumber=G3616http://www.jlindustrial.com/catalog/...?id=JET-90036K
Reply:I guess I should feel badly about buyin my Atlas benchtop for $35- now that I see those prices.I don't though, cause it took me years to get a complete set of collets for it.Appreciation Gains You Recognition-
Reply:Thanks for all of your help, those links were great! I think I will go with the Homier- it has the R8 spindle taper and a siutable table size.
Reply:for another $200 I'd at least step up and get this one. It's the same one that HF sells ...http://www.homier.com/itemdetail.asp?i=03988&c=11 - jack
Reply:Going from a square column to a round column introduces a whole new set of problems. Then there is the variable speed vs. belt or gear drive.I guess it really depends on the size of the projects.
Reply:Hey Franz, you want to double your money on that thing? I have 70 bucks with your name on it.
Reply:Slim I really appreciatee yer offer, but I ain't quite ready to part with the minimonster, and I damn well ain't anywhere near ready to haul it back out of the cellar.Appreciation Gains You Recognition- |
