A coworker of mine needed a ladder rack for his Toyota Tacoma. He designed it and cut the metal. He didn't feel comfortable welding it up with a stick welder, so he brought it over so I could weld it up for him with Mig. Reply:He needs a Longer tape measure. Looks like he missed the end of the bed by about a foot, most racks like this go almost all the way to the tailgate. What's the reason for this? Personaly I prefer the rear bar removable, so I can load/unload tall stuff easier or use my hoist to lift something and drive out from under it to unload. Other than that it looks pretty good. Tell him to take a look under that plastic bedliner and see what it's doing to the paint underneath . They are bad about scratching the paint off and holding moisture to cause rust. But where your at, I guess the moisture isn't a big problem. What kind of MIG did you use VS the type of stick machine he could have used on this? That bar across the front is going to get in the way when he has to haul something that needs to extend over the front of the truck.Last edited by Bistineau; 01-04-2013 at 04:29 PM.
Reply:'05 and later Tacoma's have a composite/plastic bed...no liner. Miss the old steel beds

Reply:LOL. That's what I thought too about the length to the end of the bed. The reason he made it shorter is because the last 9" of the bed curve in a few inches. I also agree with the bar in the front, he is having second thoughts and thinking about cutting it. He has a Lincoln AC only buzz box, which he could have used, however, he wasn't confident in his skills with the thinner material. Originally Posted by BistineauHe needs a Longer tape measure.
