This is the 6 inch version that is almost finished.  I will eventually make a 20 inch version that will fit into the 20 ton HF press.  Since it takes a long time to make, I wanted to find out if it will work before I make the 20" one.The bottom die is 3"x3"x6" with two 1.5" grooves lengthwise. The inserts are made with Delrin.  I intended on using brass, but wanted to test it first with delrin due to price.  It's looking like the Delrin will hold up, so I probably will not get the brass. The anvil is 3/4" x 6" cold rolled.pictured (and video) here of it bending a 1/8" plate that's 5" wide.here's the video:   Attached Images

Reply:Very neat, cool design, keep us posted...may want to put a air assist jack on it.
Reply:Very nice.  The commercial ones are spendy.

Reply:thats pretty slick.  i like it.  just added to the list of why i need a mill.  i'm already saving for one, just not there yet.
Reply:Awesome. The biggest problem I have bending aluminum is the marks left by the die. This appears to address that nicely without the need of the slip sheet. Can't wait to see the full sized version.
Reply:I am curious as to why the complicated system with the two rotating dies vs the simpler solid steel die with a V-grove?- MondoMember, AWSLincoln ProMIG 140Lincoln AC TombstoneCraftsman Lathe 12 x 24 c1935Atlas MFC Horizontal MillCraftsman Commercial Lathe 12 x 36 c1970- - - I'll just keep on keepin' on.

Reply:That is very cool, it not only leaves the metal unmarked, but you also have the ability to bend passed 90 degrees to account for springback.
Reply:That's a neat neat project. For you guys trying not to scratch light aluminum check into urethane dies  http://www.polyprod.com/solid-forming.html
Reply:Nice Job I have seen this same kind of bender offered as a comercial version whats realy neat is you can set it up to make large radius bends. once again nice job
